Is private tuition a growing industry?

With any business be it off line or online the first and most important thing to do is research. Is there actually a market for the product I am wanting to sell?

From my own experience in the educational field there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that private education, particularly private individual tuition, is a growth industry. Educated and informed parents are wanting to help their children to succeed in the barrage of testing that is prevalent in our schools today. They want their children to have the best opportunity.

However, sadly, this option is not open to all parents, as private tuition is not cheap especially if their is more than one child in the family. At approximately £20 an hour on average this can be above and beyond the means of many parents. A more cost effective alternative would certainly be welcomed by many parents, especially if it can be at a time to suit and in their own home.

So what about the research? A recent news clip from BBC news gives a short but succinct appraisal of the situation indicating that parents do want to provide extra help for their children and that the children do in fact benefit from this 1-1 tuition.

It is a major debate in the US. The idea is that our economic system thrives on having cheap poorly educated people.
